I suffered from severe cystic acne from 2012-2014 and I was finally able to clear up my skin last year. Since then, I’ve found a few key products that keep my skin soft and clear. They are mostly affordable drugstore products! Here’s my entire skincare routine:

Morning Routine

Cleansing – Typically in the shower, I wash my face with the Neutrogena Deep Clean Daily Scrub for shine control. The rice protein in it absorbs oil on your face for up to 8 hours. Since I do sometimes breakout on my chest and back…(bacne, ugh!) I use St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub which is more of a deeper exfoliant and works well for body acne.

Toning – If my skin is pretty clear, I’ll use Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner just to gently prep my skin. If I am breaking out and want to dry out and basically disinfect my acne, I’ll use Neutrogena Astringent which has alcohol in it.

Spot Treatment – I like to spot treat during the day under my makeup, not just at night. I use the Rapid Clear Benzoyl Peroxide gel for stubborn acne. It’s clear so it works well to wear throughout my day. Nobody has to know!

Moisturizer – OILY SKIN NEEDS MOISTURIZER TOO! Trying to avoid this will actually cause your skin to over-produce its own oil. Some of my favorite bottled moisturizers are Olay with SPF 30 (sun protection is important, especially if you don’t want your acne scars to get worse) and Dermalogica Matte Moisturizer. But lately I’ve been using a cocktail of Vitamin E oil, Tea Tree oil, and pure Argan Oil. I explain the benefits of each oil in my Morning Skin Care Routine video. They do not make my face excessively oily, they actually absorb very well.

Lips – My favorite lip product right now is the Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Tins, super cute tiny packaging, smells good, and works great! I always prep my lips with this before applying makeup!

Night Time Routine

Makeup Removal – The main thing I like to use to take off my makeup is coconut oil.  It really takes off any kind of makeup, especially matte lipstick that can be really hard to remove.  Don’t be afraid to use coconut oil to remove your makeup if you have oily skin because you’re washing it off right after–you’re not sleeping in it!  Then I follow up with Micellar Water makeup remover wipes, but you can use whatever makeup remover wipe you like, the coconut oil does all of the work for you.

Cleansing – When I use the PMD Microdermabrasion device (once a week), I use the specially formulated PMD Cleanser, otherwise I use the same cleanser from my morning routine – the Neutrogena Daily Scrub.

Exfoliation / Acne Scar Removal – Once a week I use the PMD Microdermabrasion device to smooth my skin’s texture and help soften the appearance of my acne scars. I had severe cystic acne a few years back and I do have some scarring left over from that.  Check out my original acne video. The PMD uses a combination of suction and exfoliation, very similar to what you would get done at the dermatologist’s office for dermabrasion. See my full demo here.

Toning – I use the PMD Neutralizing Toner afterwards, which removes any remaining dead skin.

Moisturizing – The PMD moisturizer which helps with healing and recovery, since my skin is a little bit irritated from the deep exfoliation. The moisturizer helps heal and soothe my skin overnight.

Lips –  Nobody wants to wake up with crusty lips (especially if you’re a mouth-breather lol), so I like to put some more Vaseline Cocoa Butter on my lips before bed.

As needed – I use micellar water and a cotton pad to remove stubborn eye makeup.  If I have active breakouts I put Mario Badescu Drying Lotion as a spot treatment for any pimples I want to dry out, reduce the size of, and heal overnight.  Another thing I like to use is pore strips for blackheads on my nose and chin.
