I really wanted this year’s Christmas to be special, so I wanted to incorporate a peppermint/candy cane theme in our décor. I absolutely loved last year’s white and gold theme, but I decided to create a few new DIY decorations to give my home that warm and fuzzy Christmas feeling.
Scroll down to find out how to create quick and easy DIY décor that will be sure to spread the Christmas cheer.
You’ll Need:
Measure the ribbon so that it can wrap fully around the length of the door. Do the same for the width. Staple the ribbon so that it holds together. Tie a giant bow separately and staple it on. There’s no easier way to get a chic decoration that people see when they step up to your door!
I found this DIY project on TikTok, and it looked amazing – so I just had to try it out for myself. I had the perfect archway in my main living area to set it up. You could find a lot of items at The Dollar Store and Walmart.
You’ll Need:
Use measuring tape to see how long and wide you want the arch to be. Cut the wire to fit your space. Using small cut pieces of the wire will help you get the arch shape on top.
Use the Command Hooks to hang the wire. You’ll want to put a few upside-down so that the wire will be properly secured to the wall.
Once you have your wire base on the wall, you can start decorating. We hung literally tons of ornaments (I had to keep getting more) and then added some lights.
Once the lights were done, I decided to weave the garland around the lights so that it looks like the lights shine through the garland. For finishing touches and to add extra flair, I also added some bows and real, edible candy canes.
I’m not going to lie – it takes a LOT of ornaments to cover the whole arch and it takes a lot of time to make. However – I could not be happier with how it turned out. It looks amazing, and really gives my living area that WOW factor.
This year, I couldn’t find the right tree topper that fit my theme – so of course, I decided to make a very last-minute DIY Candy Cane crown topper.
You’ll need:
This DIY project is VERY quick and easy and is the perfect, unique Christmas tree topper. Simply glue the candy canes around the toilet paper roll in an alternating between large and small.
When dry, tie it together with a large ribbon and put it on top of the tree…. if you can! My Tree is 12ft tall so it was a struggle getting up there even with a ladder!
This was another idea that I wanted to try from TikTok. All you’ll need are some pipe cleaners and your ornaments.
Take a cluster of 3-5 ornaments. String the pipe cleaner through where you’d normally put the ornament hooks. Twist the pipe cleaner to create a cluster and hang it on your tree. Depending on what you’re going for, you will have such cute little clusters. Mix ad match different styles and colors to create a unique and special type of decoration on your tree that hardly anyone else will have!
