I can’t believe it, but my daughter Ziya is turning eight years old in just a couple of weeks. Eight, it’s crazy. Time has really flown by, but what that means is I have officially thrown her seven different birthday parties.

Obviously starting with her first birthday, eight years ago. And now we are planning her eighth birthday party, which is going to be an enchanted, family friendly birthday party– a fairy garden theme. But in the meantime, I wanted to kind of rewind, go back and take a look at all seven of her birthday themes that we’ve done so far. Maybe some of my ideas will inspire you!

Aladdin Adventure Extravaganza: A Magical First Birthday Celebration

Transport your guests to a mystical Arabian night with an enchanting Aladdin-inspired birthday party! Dive into the world of genies, magic carpets, and shimmering treasures. The inspiration for this whimsical celebration was drawn from the beloved cartoon “Shimmer and Shine,” featuring two adorable genies. Ziya’s love for the show sparked the idea for an Arabian night theme with a cool, genie-inspired twist.

Rather than replicating the cartoon directly, the aim was to capture the essence of genie vibes while adding a touch of magic and adventure. A highlight of the celebration was the stunning genie costume handmade for Ziya. Crafted with love and attention to detail, Ziya’s outfit featured flowing genie pants, a shimmering top, and a dazzling headband fit for a magical princess. The hand-sewn ensemble captured the spirit of adventure and whimsy, allowing Ziya to step into the role of a mystical genie with style and flair.

Unicorn Extravaganza

Delight your little one with a mystical unicorn-themed party. Decorate with pastel colors, glitter, and plenty of rainbow accents. Set up a unicorn craft station where guests can decorate their own unicorn horns or make magical slime. Serve unicorn-inspired treats like rainbow fruit skewers, unicorn cupcakes, and cotton candy clouds.

Our Butterfly Tea Party was smack dab in the middle of the pandemic, so the only guests, besides our immediate family, were Ziya’s beloved stuffed animals. Other family and friends joined via zoom! Set up a tea station with an assortment of teas, finger sandwiches, and delicate pastries. We decorated everything, including the cake, with fluttering butterflies, floral arrangements, and a vintage tea set.

Since we didn’t have guests, I planned a special makeup and dress up session for Ziya. I did her makeup and her nails, and she had a ball getting all glammed up.

Disney Princess Soiree

Bring the magic of Disney to life with a princess-themed birthday extravaganza. This party was a small affair because her real birthday surprise was to go to Disney World. This Disney princess themed party was very DIY, I did all of the decorations myself, including the balloon garlands. I made sure to do all the princesses of color.

The cake was gorgeous and matched our colors perfectly, but since we had a small guest list, we didn’t need a huge cake. So actually only the top layer was real cake and the rest of it was just fake. That’s a little hack. If you want a cake that looks really impressive but you don’t want to spend the money for having the whole thing be real and you don’t want to waste all that cake, you can actually just ask them to make fake tiers.

Other ideas for a Disney princess themed party include, decorating with sparkling tiaras, shimmering curtains, and enchanting castle backdrops. Invite guests to dress up as their favorite Disney princesses and host a royal ball complete with dancing and games. Serve princess-inspired treats like Cinderella’s glass slipper cookies, Belle’s enchanted rose cupcakes, and Ariel’s under-the-sea snacks.

Mermaid Pool Party

Dive into an underwater adventure with a mermaid-themed pool party. Decorate with shimmering seashells, ocean-blue hues, and mermaid tail accents. We decorated with pink and turquoise accents, oversized Barbie dolls, and vintage beach accessories. Set up a Barbie beauty bar where guests can get glam with temporary tattoos, makeup, and nail polish. Serve Barbie-inspired treats like pink lemonade cupcakes, beach ball cake pops, and Barbie dream house cookies.
